This webinar explores the distinct benefit of early intervention for the promotion of returning patients back to productive roles in their community after spinal cord or brain injury. The goal of Community Reintegration is to provide transitional services for patients returning to productive community-based activities such as work or school. Our presenters will share case studies, lessons learned, and provide useful resources for helping someone transition back to home and community after injury.

Victor Towle, M.S., is an Outpatient Counselor with Patient and Family Services working with the TBI team. He joined Craig in 1997. He has a BA in Psychology and an MS in Rehabilitation Counseling from SIU-Carbondale. He has served on the Boards of Brain Injury Association of CO and Rocky Mountain Brain Injury Association and several Community Boards. Victor has also worked with the CO Brian Injury Task Force.
Tiffany Heck has worked as a clinician at Craig Hospital for the past 21 years specializing in the areas of Traumatic Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury. She received her Degree in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University. During her time at Craig Hospital, 6 years were spent as the supervisor of the OT staff treating brain injury. She joined the Community Reintegration program in 2008. This program focuses on educating and assisting the traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury populations in the areas of returning to work and school readiness. She works directly with State Vocational Rehabilitation to establish funding resources to complete evaluations of readiness, assessments of accommodation needs, and appropriate supports. Her current position is the Supervisor of the Community Reintegration and Adaptive Transportation programs at Craig Hospital.
Kelly Lombardi received her M.A. in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. She did her undergraduate work in Psychology at New England College which included a semester studying abroad at their sister school in Arundel, England. Kelly has over twenty years of experience in the counseling field which includes both mental health counseling and vocational rehabilitation. She became a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor in 2005. Kelly returns to work in the Community Reintegration department at Craig Hospital having previously worked at Craig Hospital in 2009-2010. Kelly has worked as a vocational counselor since 2001. Former employers include working for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Coventry Health Services, and Concentra Managed Care. Kelly has expertise in the areas of vocational assessment and evaluation, worker’s compensation, long term disability, labor market research, expert witness testimony, job placement, and return to work strategic planning. Additionally, Kelly has a background working in mental health counseling and has worked for over a decade supporting individuals living with chronic mental illness. In her early years, she ran a small family business and enjoyed sales.
