26-year-old Cody Twaddle was driving home from a friend’s house on March 3rd when he dropped his cell phone, went to pick it up, and rolled his truck two-and-a-half times breaking his neck at the C4, C5.
He was at a regional hospital in Illinois for months before he was referred to Craig Hospital by a former patient through Facebook. She was adamant that Cody come to Craig, so after thorough research, Cody was on his way to Denver, Colorado.
Cody couldn’t believe the progress he made in just a few short weeks. Prior to coming to Craig, he was told he would never drive a power chair by his own hand movement. Now, he is not only able to move his arms to operate a power chair, he is swimming and has been fitted for a manual chair.
Cody says he has found the independence he never thought was possible being paralyzed, giving credit to the experienced staff who see these injuries on a daily basis.
The best thing about Craig Hospital? The environment. Cody says, “Everyone is so positive. There are plenty of people to talk to that will help lift your spirits. It’s truly the happiest place on earth.”
