Craig Hospital Celebrates National Volunteer Week 2022

April 15, 2022

In honor of Volunteer Week, we're celebrating our Craig volunteers for lending their time, talent and support to our mission! We are so grateful that our volunteers were able to continue cheering on our patients and staff in the midst of the pandemic, and after limited volunteer opportunities during the peak of the pandemic, we are excited that our volunteers are now returning back to their normal spots around the hospital. As you see them around, make sure to say thanks for all that they do!

The 120 volunteers who have returned have helped in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Peer Mentor program, the Craig Foundation, Sewing, Craig's Gift Shop and Rehab Engineering. All together, they provided a total of 5,957 hours of volunteer time! During this past year, we've also had more than 270 clubs, organizations, restaurants and individuals donate everything from homemade masks, meals and quilts to inspirational banners, cookies and coffee.

One example of this community connection is the partnership with Firehouse Quilts. Throughout the year, this organization donated about 120 handmade and beautifully crafted quilts that were then delivered to our patients by Craig CEO Jandel Allen-Davis, MD. During Volunteer Week, remember to give a big “thank you” to all of our wonderful volunteers, and we would welcome you or someone you know that is interested in volunteering at Craig Hospital to help to create a warm and supportive environment for our patients and their family members.

We're excited to welcome our volunteers back into important roles across the hospital this year and currently have a need for more volunteers in several departments and programs.
