Craig Patient Recipient of Surprise Home Renovation

August 03, 2018

Alex Goldmeier came to Craig Hospital after a skiing accident in New York earlier this year, and while he was completing his therapy, his family began to prepare for his return home after rehabilitation. They started looking into how they could adapt their family home to Alex’s needs - which is where George to the Rescue came in. The home makeover show surprised the Goldmeier family while they were still at Craig and gifted them with a renovation that would make their family home functional and accessible for Alex. Check out a sneak peak of their home reveal before the full episode runs in October and hear from Alex and his family on the Today Show last week!

Now back in New York, Alex recently found out that he has been accepted into a graduate program to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology.

“After experiencing a traumatic injury myself, I want to use my knowledge of psychology to help individuals who endure traumatic events as well as similar injuries as myself,” Alex says. "I'm excited to return to school and happy to be home. I'm doing well and am grateful for the support of my family and friends throughout this experience."

A quote Alex says he lives by and now has hanging in his newly updated space is by Asha Tyson: “Your journey has molded you for your greater good, and it was exactly what it needed to be. Don’t think that you’ve lost time. It took each and every situation you have encountered to bring you to the now. And now is right on time."

"This allows me to know that everything will be okay and reassures me that we are all on our own timeline in life," Alex says. "Each experience has led me to become the best person I can possibly be."
