Members of the Board of Directors, administration and staff of Craig Hospital recently joined 180 attendees at the Cherry Hills Country Club for the 2019 Volunteer Appreciation Dinner where they recognized the 250 of its regular volunteers who make Craig’s level of patient care and client service possible. In 2018, Craig volunteers clocked roughly 25,500 hours.

The Jim Richards Outstanding Volunteer of the Year recognition was presented to the Spiritual Care volunteer teams, led by Chuck and Barb Lewis, Chuck and Lynn Green, and Fran Berry. These volunteers have been serving Craig patients for more than 30 years. Jose Reyes, a former patient, spoke at the dinner about the Ministry Team’s impact on patients. Reyes, who now volunteers at Craig as well, provided an interesting dual perspective on the role of volunteers at the hospital.
“Without our volunteers, Craig Hospital could not be as successful as it is,” said Jill Stelley Virden, Craig’s Volunteer Manager. “We’re honored to take this opportunity to recognize all they bring to our organization and marvel at their dedication and kindness. Their selflessness and commitment to Craig brings a caring nature to the hospital that both staff and patients enjoy and appreciate.”
Volunteers serve throughout the hospital, including in departments like Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Nursing, Spiritual Care, Research, Food Services, Engineering, Clinical Care Management, the Craig Foundation, and the Gift Shop, which is completely staffed by volunteers.
Warmest thanks and appreciation for all that you do.
