The PEAK Center at Craig Hospital, located in Englewood, Colorado, is an adaptive health and wellness center serving individuals from across the country with neurologic disabilities in order to optimize their recovery and to create a lifelong plan for their health and wellness.
The PEAK Center at Craig Hospital offers unpaid exercise specialist/pre-physical therapy internships for undergraduate/graduate students in exercise science, health and wellness promotion, or related fields. Self-motivated, enthusiastic, creative students looking for experience in a wellness facility working with individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Overview
Internships provide students with comprehensive, hands-on practical and technical experience in a fast-paced environment. Internships last 8–15 weeks and lengths may be adjusted to meet school requirements (minimum 400 hours; maximum 600 hours).
As an Exercise Specialist intern, you’ll gain experience with:
- Education in spinal cord, brain injury and other neurological disabilities
- Activity-based personal training
- Locomotor training
- FES bikes
- Aquatic therapy

Please Note!
The state of Colorado requires all interns to be covered by workers’ compensation insurance. This must be provided by the University and cannot be provided by Craig Hospital. If you are uncertain about whether or not your University will cover this requirement, please speak to your advisor and/or your University’s Risk Manager.
