About Pedal 4 Possible: September 15, 2018

About Pedal 4 Possible

Pedal 4 Possible on September 15, 2018 is a Century Ride along the Rockies to support Craig Hospital. Join us for this scenic ride in Boulder County, Colorado. The ride starts and ends in Louisville, at the headquarters of Pearl Izumi. A post-ride party will follow with food and cool prizes.

Pedal 4 Possible will feature courses for all skill levels and abilities: 10K, 30K, 50K, 100K and 100 Mile.

In 2017, the third annual Pedal 4 Possible ride raised more than $150,000 to support Craig Hospital. Last year's event featured 338 riders. Over 100 volunteers assisted on the day of the event to ensure a safe and fun ride. We anticipate the 2018 ride will be even bigger and more successful!

Brian Roders: Ride to Recovery

On October 15, 2006, Brian Roders was on a month-long bike ride to Wisconsin with a friend he met volunteering with the Rocky Mountain Youth Corps earlier that summer. They set up camp for the night outside Byers, Colorado out on the great plains. That night the unimaginable happened. Someone was off-roading in a 4-wheel-drive vehicle and ran over the bright orange bivy sack Brian was sleeping in. Caught under the truck, Brian was dragged for 300 feet under the vehicle. He was taken to Swedish Medical Center and stayed there, in a coma, for three weeks. Brian sustained a traumatic brain injury and a spinal cord injury to his L1-L5 vertebrae and his sacrum. In November 2006, he was transferred to Craig Hospital where he began rehabilitation. Brian spent four months at Craig, working with an inpatient team including a physician, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, respiratory therapist, and therapeutic recreation specialist. After months of long, challenging days of rehabilitation, Brian walked out of Craig in February 2007, still with a long road of recovery ahead of him.

Last year, Brian came back to Colorado to ride in Pedal 4 Possible.  This is his story.
