Turning Science into Recovery
The Human Movement Lab will be a “living laboratory,” designed to quantify and assess improvements in neurophysiology, strength, balance, gait, and other key outcomes. In this sophisticated facility, we will objectively address the clinical questions that matter most to people affected by neurologic injuries, driving innovations that directly impact their care and recovery.
We envision Craig Hospital’s Human Movement Lab as a dynamic center where we will:
Attract and retain brilliant researchers
Attract and retain brilliant researchers, who will lead groundbreaking studies alongside our expert clinicians.
Expand collaboration
Expand collaboration with other highly-respected institutions to collaborate on critical questions, and to disseminate findings to the broader SCI/BI community.
Expand scientific knowledge and advancements
Expand scientific knowledge and advancements, while always preserving patient safety, and autonomy as core values.
Integrate gold-standard clinical assessments
Integrate gold-standard clinical assessments with advanced biomechanical, neuroimaging, and blood-based biomarker measures to reveal recovery mechanisms, predict rehab responses, and improve outcomes.
Enhance the patient and family experience
Enhance the patient and family experience via an inviting, open, positive, and innovative environment – one that fosters healing while driving breakthroughs.
Translate discoveries directly into clinical care
Translate discoveries directly into clinical care, ensuring patients benefit from the latest science in real time – from the earliest days after injury and throughout their lifetimes.
Why It Matters?
Construction of our Human Movement Lab is an urgent priority. While Craig is already a lead enroller on numerous studies across the country, limitations in the types of research equipment we have been able to obtain – and the space to house such equipment, which can be quite large – have been preventing us from living up to our powerful scientific potential. Today, we are making groundbreaking discoveries in nooks and crannies spread around our campus. Imagine how much more we will achieve, how much more we will improve lives, once we build the facilities to match our innovative spirit and scientific expertise, right in the heart of the Hospital.
Make an Impact
We invite you to partner with us to transform research at Craig Hospital to build and outfit our flagship Human Movement Lab, and to sustain and grow our exceptional research staff.
Together, we can create a future where breakthroughs in science translate directly into lives changed.
A look into the future Human Movement Lab
Improving quality of life for all who live with a spinal cord or brain injury
Our bold vision will take Craig's time-tested rehabilitation model and expand access and accelerate innovation to serve more people, serve them sooner, and impact the entire spinal cord and brain injury community as we bridge the gap between research and real-world therapies
Craig’s first-ever Human Movement Lab will be a dynamic “living lab,” measuring strength, balance, gait, and more as patients explore cutting-edge therapies. By testing and translating scientific discoveries into real-world solutions, we’re driving better health and long-term well-being.
The Human Movement Lab will help Craig deepen its partnerships and spark new discoveries—bringing together experts and technology to advance research in spinal cord and brain injury, together.
