NeuroRecovery Network Program Overview

  • Patients in the NeuroRecovery Network at Craig Hospital will participate in therapy 5 days per week, 1.5 hours per session in physical therapy and occupational therapy.
  • Each NeuroRecovery Network Locomotor Training session will include 55-60 minutes of treadmill activities (stepping and standing) and 30 minutes of functional mobility training with a physical therapist and/or Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) with an occupational therapist for a total of 90 minutes.
  • Each NeuroRecovery Network NMES session will include 60-90 minutes of neuromuscular electrical stimulation provided to the upper limb and trunk musculature while practicing common functional tasks of the upper extremity.
  • Functional mobility training may include: transfer training, joint mobilization, stretching, core stabilization exercises, standing, and/or gait training, if applicable, to name a few.
  • Patients will be re-evaluated every 20 sessions using an extensive list of evidence based outcome measures. If functional progress can be demonstrated, the patient will be seen for another block of 20 sessions; until functional progress is not made (plateau) and or funding is no longer available to support participation.
