Clinical Care Management

Clinical care managers (CCM) are critical members of each interdisciplinary team. CCMs provide assistance in patient and family counseling, education, accessing benefits, team coordination, planning for home, and advocacy.

Meet Our Inpatient Team

  • ​Stephanie Percival, Director of Clinical Care Management

    Clinical Care Management

    Stephanie Percival, MA, is the Director of Clinical Care Management (Inpatient and Outpatient Counselors). Stephanie received her B.A. degree in Psychology from the University of Denver in 1976 and her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in 1984. Stephanie has worked in the Rehabilitation/Disability Management field for the past 21 years. Stephanie joined Craig Hospital in 2001 as a counselor in the Patient and Family Services Department and in November, 2005 Stephanie became the Director of the Department. Stephanie is an active member of the American Association of Spinal Cord Injury Psychologists and Social Workers.

  • Nichola Abeyta, Inpatient Counselor

    Clinical Care Management

    Nichola Abeyta, MEd, started at Craig Hospital in 1989. She has a Master’s degree in Education and BA in Social Work. Niki is a member of the Spinal Cord Injury Program Committee and Complementary and Alternative Medicine committee. She represents Craig Hospital Patient and Family Services as a lead clinician for a multi-year, multi-facility study on SCI outcomes. Niki has co- authored 2 published study articles.

  • Pamela K. Beightol, Inpatient Counselor

    Pamela K. Beightol, MA, CRC, education includes Bachelors of Social Work from Colorado State University and Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from University of Northern Colorado. She is Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. Pam started working at Craig Hospital in 1991. She worked with both Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury Teams until 1999. She then transitioned to Outpatient Patient and Family Services until 2009 when she returned to Inpatient Patient and Family Services.

  • Kent Hamstra, Inpatient Counselor

    Clinical Care Management

    Kent Hamstra MA, received his training and degree in Psychology from Hastings College in 1985 and Master of Arts degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from University of Iowa in 1986. He has been a member of the Craig Hospital inpatient TBI clinical team since 1987. Kent has been involved with multiple projects involving TBI. He is a member of the Craig Hospital TBI Supervisors Group.

  • Avery LaFleur, Inpatient Counselor

    Avery La Fleur, MSW, has been a part of the Craig Hospital family since 2004. After completing his undergraduate degrees at Wartburg College in Waverly, Ia., he moved to Colorado and worked in corrections. After several years working in corrections Avery went on to get his Masters degree in Social Work, at the University of Denver, Graduate School of Social Work, Denver, Co.; where his emphasis was in Medical Social Work as well as Individual, Family, and Group Counseling. He is also a guest professor for the University of Phoenix. Avery provides educational classes at Craig Hospital in the areas of Sexuality and Romance, Discharge Planning, and Social Skills.

  • Amanda Marsh, Inpatient Counselor

    Amanda Marsh, LCSW, CCM, received her B.S. degree in sociology from Central Michigan University in 2009 and her MSW from the University of Michigan in 2011. Amanda joined Craig Hospital in March of 2014 as an inpatient counselor in the Clinical Care Management department. She also serves on the board of the Colorado chapter of the National Association of Social Workers as a Denver Region Representative.

  • Kent Newmyer, Inpatient Counselor

    Kent Newmyer, MSW, has been a part of Craig Hospital since 2012. She completed her undergraduate studies in Sociology at Fort Lewis College in Durango Colorado. After returning home to Denver, she spent 3 years working at a residential facility in Aurora for at-risk adolescents. Kent went on to get her Masters degree in Social Work, at the University of Denver, Graduate School of Social Work, Denver, Co. where her emphasis was in medical social work and interpersonal trauma studies. She now provides counseling at Craig Hospital to patients and families who have sustained traumatic brain injuries.

  • Carol E. Wineinger, Inpatient Counselor

    Carol E. Wineinger, MA, LPC, joined Craig Hospital in 2006, and works with inpatients who have spinal cord injuries and/or combination brain and spinal cord injuries. Carol’s education includes a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Nebraska, and a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor for the State of Colorado, and an active member of The Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals.

  • Karen Leonard, Inpatient Counselor

    Karen Leonard, MSW, works in TBI inpatient Clinical Care Management. Karen received her B.A. degree in Psychology from Colorado State University in 1997 and her Masters in Social Work from University of Denver in 2001. Karen has worked in the Rehabilitation Social Work field for the past 16 years. Karen joined Craig Hospital in 2015 as a counselor in the Clinical Care Management Department. Karen enjoys spending time with her family outside of work.

  • Karen Jensen, Outpatient CCM Supervisor

    Karen Jensen, LCSW, works on two of Craig Hospital’s inpatient spinal cord injury teams. A native of Arizona, Karen graduated with her Master of Social Work from Arizona State University in May 2000. Karen has been working as a medical social worker since then, focusing on discharge planning, crisis intervention and utilization review. She has also worked at several Level I Trauma Centers and teaching hospitals including Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Denver Health and University of Colorado Hospital. After a brief stint in hospice, Karen joined Craig in early 2013.

  • C. Kay Brandt, Outpatient Counselor

    C. Kay Brandt, M.A., is an Outpatient Counselor with Patient and Family Services. Kay received her B.A. Degree in Psychology from Weber State University in 1978 and her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in 1991. Kay came to Craig Hospital as an Outpatient Counselor in 1991. Kay is also an Outpatient team member for the Diaphragm Pacing System (DPS).

    Becki Bushnell, M.S.W., received her B.S. degree in Social Work from Metropolitan State College of Denver in 2005 and her M.S.W. in Social Work from the University of Denver in 2008. Becki joined Craig Hospital in 2008 as a Outpatient Counselor in the Patient and Family Services Department. In 2008, Becki received her certificate in Animal Assisted Therapy and became an Interdisciplinary team member of the outpatient skin clinic.

  • Kathy Hulse, Outpatient Counselor

    Clinical Care Management

    Kathy Hulse, LCSW, is an Outpatient Counselor with Patient and Family Services. She received her BSW from Shippensburg State College in 1983 and her MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1988. She joined Craig Hospital in 1989 as an outpatient counselor. Kathy is an active member of the American Spinal Cord Injury Professionals. She also serves as a Steering Committee member for the Medicaid Infrastructure Grant to support the Buy-In program for working adults with disabilities.

  • Nicole Miller, Outpatient Counselor

    Nicole Miller LPC, CRC, works as a Clinical Care Manager with the Outpatient Services Department. She also is a part of the Research Department. She has two masters degrees, one in Rehabilitation Counseling and one in Clinical Counseling with an emphasis in Couples and Families. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and she is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. She received her undergraduate degree from University of Wyoming in Communications with an emphasis in Psychology. She was a Craig Graduate before getting her higher education and joined the Craig Outpatient and Research Teams in 2014.

  • Victor Towle, Outpatient Counselor

    Victor Towle, M.S., is an Outpatient Counselor with Patient and Family Services working with the TBI team. He joined Craig in 1997. He has a BA in Psychology and an MS in Rehabilitation Counseling from SIU-Carbondale. He has served on the Boards of Brain Injury Association of CO and Rocky Mountain Brain Injury Association and several Community Boards. Victor has also worked with the CO Brian Injury Task Force.

  • Jordan Roberts, Outpatient Counselor

    Clinical Care Management

    Jordan Roberts, MSW, joined the Craig Hospital team in 2015. She received her undergraduate degree in Social Work from East Carolina University, graduating with Honors. Following undergrad, Jordan attended the University of South Carolina where she completed the Advanced Standing Master of Social Work Program with a focus on micro-level social work. She went on to work in hospice care at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in North Carolina. Jordan has additional case manager experience in skilled nursing facilities and NC Department of Social Services. She now provides counseling and case management services at Craig Hospital to patients and families living with spinal cord injuries.
