Craig Hospital is fortunate to have more than 250 volunteers on a regular basis who donated 25,220+ hours during 2018. Given that the latest value of volunteer time is $24.69/hour, the volunteer time donated to Craig in the past year was $622,681!
Craig Hospital cannot provide its outstanding programs and care without these volunteers.
“While the dollar value can be estimated, the number of smiles, laughs, comfort and care that the volunteers bring into the halls of Craig is priceless! And we cannot even calculate the number of hours donated by clubs and organizations on campus and in the community,” Jill Stelley Virden, Craig Volunteer Manager, says.
Currently, volunteers are placed with Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Nursing, Spiritual Care, Research, Food Services, Foundation, Engineering and Clinical Care Management. In fact, the Gift Shop is staffed entirely by volunteers, and all of the proceeds go back to the hospital.
We are so grateful to each and every volunteer who donates their time and energy toward making Craig a world-class rehabilitation hospital.
This year, we will present the Jim Richards Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award to the Spiritual Care volunteers who have been part of the Craig Hospital family for 30 years and more. Chuck and Barb Lewis, Charles and Lynn Green, Fran Berry, and their ministry teams will be honored at the annual volunteer dinner scheduled for June.
If you see any of our volunteers this week, remember to recognize them with a special thank you!
