The PEAK (Performance, Exercise, Attitude, and Knowledge) Center at Craig is an adaptive health and wellness center serving individuals with neurologic disorders such as spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s to optimize their recovery and create a lifelong plan for their health and wellness.

The PEAK Center at Craig offers adaptive equipment, group classes, and personal training.

I find The PEAK Center at Craig inspirational. After a few months, I saw improvement in my strength and endurance to help with transfers and personal independence. The staff works with me to try new things like Bioness, Ekso legs and the Lokomat. I want to feel useful, positive and good. As part of the PEAK Center family, my life has been better. There’s no place like it.

The PEAK Center at Craig was launched through generous grants from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, Daniels Fund, Jay and Rose Phillips Family Foundation, and Jackson Roddy Family. The program partially operates on membership fees and insurance reimbursements. Gifts to the program cover operating costs, new equipment, replacement equipment and scholarships.

“When an able-bodied person wants to try a new sport, they can run to Wal-Mart and buy $50 worth of gear and be set,” says Tom Carr, director of Therapeutic Recreation. “But when we’re talking about adaptive equipment, these pieces can run $3,000-$5,000 and more! It’s a capital investment, so we want to make sure our patients have access not only to equipment but to the ‘right equipment’ and that takes time and money.”
