Your generosity powers more than care—it powers what’s possible
We invite you to join us in shaping Craig Hospital’s future by supporting our $100 million Hope & Homecomings Campaign. Your generosity ensures more patients and families have access to world-class rehabilitation, expanded healing spaces, and life-changing therapies. Every gift brings us closer to welcoming more people into recovery and independence—and we are deeply thankful for your partnership in making these homecomings possible.

Your support will make time work for our patients and families by:
Craig’s inpatient waitlist holds 50-70 people, half are ready to start rehab now if a bed opened. The rest need specialized pre-rehab care they can’t find elsewhere. We’re tackling this urgent need by expanding Craig’s world-class SCI/BI rehabilitation, reaching more people who need it most.
- We will add at least 26 new patient rooms to:
- Create Craig’s first-ever Neuromedical Unit to help mitigate medical complications and serve patients sooner
- Increase inpatient capacity to serve 13-15% more patients annually
- Grow and strengthen Craig’s existing holistic programs, including direct patient assistance
We will continue our leadership position in the spinal cord and brain injury communities more broadly by translating research into clinical practice.
- Expand translational research at Craig to bridge the gap between research and real-world therapies and move faster from science to solutions
- Build our first-ever state-of-the-art Human Movement Lab, a “living laboratory” designed to provide real-time feedback and translate research findings quickly to our patients
- Increase collaborative capacity to disseminate our learnings to the broader spinal cord and brain injury community
More Than a Hospital
Craig Hospital is a world leader in spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation. Because of our stellar reputation, trailblazing approach, and unsurpassed outcomes, people from all 50 states come to Colorado seeking our specialized care and leading-edge research. Inpatient Expansion
Craig Hospital is expanding its renowned inpatient program by adding at least 14 new beds, a crucial step toward reducing the long waitlist that averages 50 to 60 people. This expansion means approximately 60 more patients each year will have access to Craig’s specialized care, right when they need it most. With earlier entry into Craig’s award-winning rehabilitation program, patients will have a greater chance of achieving independence, improving their health, and embracing life beyond injury. These additional beds will help more people benefit from Craig’s holistic approach, ensuring each patient gets the expert care and support they deserve.

Neuromedical Unit
Craig Hospital is pioneering a new chapter in neurorehabilitation with its first-ever Neuromedical Unit (NMU) — a transformative initiative to get spinal cord and brain injury patients the expert care they need, faster. Adding 12 specialized beds, the NMU will help medically complex patients begin rehabilitation earlier, right when it matters most. Whether managing pressure wounds, ventilation, or other critical needs, this unit will help patients avoid complications, regain strength, and prepare for intensive rehabilitation. By bridging the gap between acute care and rehab, Craig continues its legacy of setting new standards and ensuring hope and healing start as soon as possible.

Campus Expansion
“To fully embrace our vision, we must expand our physical space in both the East and West buildings. To make room for these important initiatives, we will begin construction on the East building in fall of 2025.”

Our bold vision will take Craig's time-tested rehabilitation model and expand access and accelerate innovation to serve more people, serve them sooner, and impact the entire spinal cord and brain injury community as we bridge the gap between research and real-world therapies
As the first step in our campus expansion, we will be replacing a 12,500-square-foot surface parking lot with a beautiful, accessible outdoor garden.
This new garden — which will serve not only Craig patients, families and staff but also the broader community — will blend the benefits of a therapeutic garden (advancing patients’ rehabilitation goals) with those of a healing garden (promoting relaxation and overall well-being).
A new climate-controlled entrance and driveway will make it easier and more comfortable for patients to load and unload for outings and adventures with Therapeutic Recreation, or vehicle and equipment demonstrations with Adaptive Transportation
Craig’s first-ever Human Movement Lab will be a dynamic “living lab,” measuring strength, balance, gait, and more as patients explore cutting-edge therapies. By testing and translating scientific discoveries into real-world solutions, we’re driving better health and long-term well-being.
The Human Movement Lab will help Craig deepen its partnerships and spark new discoveries—bringing together experts and technology to advance research in spinal cord and brain injury, together.
We’re adding at least 26 new patient rooms to expand access to Craig. Twelve will house our first-ever Neuromedical Unit, helping patients start rehab sooner and prevent complications like skin wounds and other issues. This early care sets the stage for a smoother recovery. Plus, at least 14 new inpatient rooms will open doors for more people waiting to access Craig’s world-class care.
We're building a flexible new space to support Therapeutic Recreation—designed for today’s needs and ready to grow with our patients’ passions in the years to come.
