Understanding the Patient Experience

Every Craig Hospital inpatient has a pharmacist on their interdisciplinary team who attends team rounds and reviews medications for interactions, side effects, alternatives, and outpatient prescription coverage. Craig pharmacists monitor and adjust treatment for antibiotics, immunizations and anticoagulation medications. Our pharmacy team also participates in a number of investigational drug studies.

This dedicated inpatient pharmacy service provides superior patient care because the department specializes in medications that treat brain and spinal cord injuries.

A standout innovation includes a program that delivers care even after a patient leaves Craig. The team makes sure patients are established with a neighborhood pharmacy and have a clear plan for getting medications delivered.

“We want patients to understand and be involved in their own care,” says Amy Goldstein, RPh, MS, Craig’s Director of Pharmacy Services. “Whether we make a difference by helping make an appropriate medication substitution, helping a patient understand their medications or by saving the patient money, the direct result is better patient care – and that’s what drives us.”
