Kathy Howell

Kathy is a nurse executive consultant with 14 years of experience as a system Chief Nurse Executive. In addition to serving in health system Chief Nurse Executive positions she has also served as a CEO, CNO and service line executive over her 40-year career.

She has experience and expertise in developing effective system organizational and leadership structures, innovative care model redesign, professional nursing governance and succession planning from the bedside to the board room.

Kathy has recently retired from the position of Chief Nursing Executive for UCHealth and Chief Nursing Officer for University of Colorado Hospital. She joined UCHealth in January of 2018 and was responsible for the continued clinical integration and advancement of nursing practice of over 10,000 nurses who practice within the 14-hospital system.

Kathy is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Organization of Nurse Leaders. She also has serves on the boards of numerous community, state, and civic organizations.

Kathy received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marymount College and her master’s in business administration from Northern Illinois University.
