Craig Hospital Achieves Fifth Consecutive Magnet® Designation for Nursing Excellence

Englewood, CO – December 8, 2025 – Craig Hospital, a nationally recognized neurorehabilitation and research hospital for individuals with spinal cord and brain injuries, is proud to announce its fifth consecutive Magnet^® designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program^®. This prestigious recognition places Craig Hospital among the top 1.5% of hospitals nationwide that have achieved this distinction, underscoring its dedication to nursing excellence and exceptional patient care.

The ANCC’s Magnet Recognition Program® is the highest national honor for professional nursing practice, distinguishing health care organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence. The redesignation process involved a comprehensive evaluation of Craig Hospital’s performance, assessing its ability to meet the Magnet standards. This thorough review included input from nursing staff, department leaders, the executive team, members of the board of directors, and patients and families.

Craig Hospital was first designated as a Magnet organization in 2005. The 2025 recognition ensures Magnet designation until the year 2030.

The ANCC’s decision to grant Craig Hospital its fifth Magnet designation highlights the hospital’s outstanding achievements in 14 areas of patient care, where its teams have consistently surpassed national benchmarks. These areas include:

• Percentage of professional registered nurses with advanced education: 94% of Craig’s nurses have earned a baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing.

• Infection and injury prevention: Exceptional rates of infection control and falls with injury in inpatient care.

• Patient-centered care: Excellence in careful listening, courtesy and respect, patient education, and patient-centered care in inpatient settings.

• Outpatient care quality: Superior performance in reducing rates of falls with injury and readmissions in outpatient care.
